Rummage Sale
It's that time again…
the Spring Rummage Sale!
April 25-26, 2008
One of the biggest rummage sales in the area is set
for April 25 and 26 at Linn Presbyterian Church, W3335 Willow Road,
Lake Geneva. Members and
friends of the church are busy preparing for the sale which will be set up
both inside the church and also in “Sue’s Shed” on the church
grounds. There is something
for everyone: household items, furniture, books, linens, toys, clothing,
sports equipment, framed artwork, horseback riding apparel, and much more.
A boutique offers unusual higher-end items, and the “New Nook”
offers some items with their original price tags.
Sale hours on Friday, April 25, will be from 7
a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by special evening hours from 5 -7 p.m.
On Saturday, “bag day” runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
For $2, shoppers can fill a grocery bag with as much as they want
to take.
A coffee shop called “Frieda’s Place” will
offer baked treats for those who want to take a break from shopping or
take time to socialize. A
secure area is available where shoppers can leave merchandise while they
enjoy refreshments or hunt for more bargains.
A large number of volunteers help with the sale,
which is chaired by Shirley Nichols and Diane Thompson.
Call the church office at 262-248-1588 for more information.
Did You Know...
for the last 55 years the
Linn Presbyterian Church has been the place to go each fall for fantastic
bargains? It all began in 1955 at the Fall Festival held in Zenda at the
little white church. Furniture, farm produce, chickens, pigs, and even
wagon loads of hay were sold in conjunction with the delicious Roast Beef
Dinner. When the new church was built in 1978, three women, Marna Akerley,
Diane Thompson, and Pat Oblak organized a craft sale on the day of the
Roast Beef Dinner. This evolved into a flea market and then a Rummage
Sale. Under the able leadership of co-chairs, Shirley Nichols and Diane
Thompson, the sale has gotten bigger and better each year.
Our reputation for
having a great sale twice a year is almost nation wide.
Well, we do draw happy customers from a two state area.
